"the head bob," vacuuming, and a hair cut....

Hayden is so so funny. He dances all. the. time. now. And has added some new moves than just the swaying back and forth. "The head bob," I think is everyone's favorite and he has added what I like to call "the push up."  He will also wave his arms all around in front of him and up high, and he is starting to bounce his bum up and down :) Enjoy. (He bobs his head to everything now...the music from his barn, music on TV, songs I'm singing...all the time. its hilarious.)

Hayden loves dancing to Michael Jackson, Prince, any older ish songs or anything with a good beat... Ive been dancing with him since he was a newborn. I'm determined to make sure he has some sense of beat and rhythm.

This is him just playing, he was rocking out right before I got this though...(this is mostly for our friends and family far far away...)

this is one of Hayden's favorite things to do...he is definitely my big helper.  (the end of this video is my favorite, his big cheese-ola grin cracks me up)

Hayden got his first haircut this past weekend. I'm so pathetic, I totally got all teary and of course kept some of his hair. Its so crazy how much more grown up he looks with his big boy hair cut.  He did so well, he held very still....until about the middle...then he was a little freaked out by this strange girl doing something to his head with these shiny things. At that point he sat with his daddy and he was fine the rest of the time.  He looks so grown up and so handsome.

He was really unsure about the whole thing.. who were these random people, where were we, why mommy had these shiny metal things in her hair, (i got my hair colored and cut too, love it!)
This is him totally giving Morgan the eye, like "don't you come near me..." hahaha
(thanks Morgan for doing his hair!  I love it, and you were so cute with him)
This is my favorite picture EVER!  He was trying so hard to keep it together, and he was almost done but he just couldn't contain himself anymore...
So the binki went in and we were good.....
(look at all that hair! It was so long and uneven..)

But then he really lost it...
So he sat with Daddy and was . He sat so well the whole time.

He was such a good boy but soooo done at the end.  He wanted to get the heck out of there.  Thats why the picture is a little blurry.  I think he cried right after this...

BUT......
look how cute my little man is the next day on Valentine's Day in his cute little V-Day outfit and his new haircut!  love it... he is sooo handsome.  how can you not love him and think he is the cutest ever?

This has probably been waaaay to much documentation and pictures of one child. But what can I say? Im a proud mommy and he is sooo cute. :)

I hope everyone is thinking warm, bright, Spring-ish thoughts! I miss the sun!

"warm" winter and funny stories....

It has been so blasted cold here in the Artic.... I mean Rexburg. Seriously its anywhere from 9-20 degrees... FA-RE-EE-ZING! But the other day it warmed up! Hallelujah, to a whopping 31 degrees!!!! It was surprisingly glorious. And poor Hayden is so darn bored being inside all the time. He runs to the front door and pounds on it to go outside, stretching to reach the handle....poor kid. So it was a Saturday, I had Cory home for backup so he took him outside to run around in the snow :) He had a blast!
If these seem blurry it's because Cory took them with his phone, which has a pretty good little camera on it but still.... it obviously snows here.....a LOT!  We see at least a few flurries if not full snow every other day.  It's crazy.

We are going to Utah this weekend! WOOO! I am sooo excited.  My family is going to die at how much Hayden has changed. And it's only been a little over a month.  I think getting the tubes in his ears has helped SO much!  He is babbling more sounds and mimicking so much more.  Some funny stories in the past little while.

-Cory and I were watching Hayden shoot hoops in his cute little basketball hoop he got for Christmas from Grandma Tracy.  It is so fun because it will grow with him.  He use to have to stretch and get up on his toes to dunk it in on the lowest notch.  He is now slamming it in the hoop and then throws his arms up in the air for "Hooray!"  So Cory lifted it up a notch and he can still make it in, but is tippy toeing it in again... I can't believe how much he has grown.  Here is the video we took with Cory's phone... he was so so proud of himself.

-He thinks its hilarious to play and then hide my phone.  So far I have found it: fed to his cow on his toy barn, in his crib AFTER a nap(Im not sure how he snuck it in with him while I was laying him down), and UNDER the fridge....He doesn't get to play with it anymore

-He loves to dance.  He dances to my music that I play while I am getting ready or cooking... and he also loves to sway back and forth and bust a move during Sacrament meeting.  I think he learned his moves from Cory, slightly all over the place and slightly off beat, hahahaha..just kidding Cory. :) LY.

-Speaking of Sacrament meeting... we FINALLY went to our ward that we are supposed to be in this last week.  This cute couple sat with us and of course thought Hayden was darling.  He then began showing off, pounding his head on the bench in front of us, singing, talking loudly, and more dancing.  By the end of the meeting(which had gone way over time) he was DONE to say the least.  He pushed his way past me to meet this new friend that had been sitting with us the whole time.  He looked at the girl's pretty sparkly bracelet and talked softly and then all the sudden, PULLS HER SKIRT ALMOST ALL THE WAY UP!  I about died... She thought it was hilarious, her husband thought it was more hilarious, Hayden was offended and started to whine that she wasn't allowing him to continue investigating(Cory then took him out.)  I was so mortified.  Then... after we came home early from church because Hayden was more bear-ish, than sweet boy-ish(nap time).  I notice a girl in a similar sweater that Hayden had tried to undress... I noticed them walking in the apartment DIRECTLY across from us!  The girl that he attempted to undress lives right there!  Then I was even more embarrassed. What a coincidence huh?  (Dont worry, Cory did give him the "man" talk of being turned down, and she's just a girl, and better luck next time....)

-Hayden thinks if he signs or attempts to say please, he automatically gets whatever it is he wants because he said please... that has been a rough discovery for everyone, that just because you say please you don't get what you want...he is really good at temper tantrums now....

-A sucess story this month: Hayden will now eat black beans, pinto beans, any beans like those, and carrots...(that's all Im going to say about his veggie intake so I dont jinx it)

-Hayden loves to help me mop, vacuum, do the laundry and the dishes,  cook, and watch me get ready and pretend to put on make up...don't ask Cory about the last one... it's a sensitive subject. haha....The other day I had made theses brownie sucker things.  He had somehow, without me noticing, reached the spatula that I used to get them off the pan and was walking around the front room saying "Mmmmmm." I look over and his face is COVERED in chocolate.
Helping mommy cook...

-Hayden has watched little, to no tv. EVER.  But there was one day we were waiting for Cory to come home(Hayden watches out the window for him everyday, he knows exactly when it's time for daddy to come home) and I could NOT entertain him anymore... so sue me, I turned on Blue's Clues... and he sat and watched and loved it.....(This still does not happen very often but I thought it was a cute picture of him just sitting...)
-Hayden also LOVES to color.  I've been trying to help him color everyday.  Even if it's just for 5 min.  Working for the school district in CA I noticed how much of a difference it makes if you start reading, and teaching them how to color and get those fine motor skills working early...Sometimes he will color FOREVER, sometimes it's only 2 minutes.

One of his latest creations:
We hung it on the wall in a frame from the dollar store.  He is so proud, he points to it all the time and I love that we have his art displayed in our home :)
Working on Valentine's :)
Hayden helping me decorate for V-Day/FHE activity.  One side is cute scrapbook-y looking hearts and on the other side is who we love and how we show our love.

He is just growing a ton and is so darn smart.  Probably to smart for his own good... Im in trouble when he really does start talking...He knows exactly what we are talking about and he knows exactly what he wants.  We are all learning :)

We hope you all have a Happy Love Day!

Also, I have a new blog with some really good friends.  There are lots of Vday ideas, fhe ideas, visiting teaching aids,  and other fun things and recipes...(including a download of the L.O.V.E. page I had Hayden color and the Valentine's we made will be posted in a day or two if you need ideas...)check it out! The Enemy....

thats right....vegetables.  Hayden's unsworn enemy.... I try and be a good mom.  I try and give him a fruit and vegetable at every meal.  Hayden loves fruit, all fruit.  Oranges, bananas, peaches, pears, etc... and he loves any carb, pasta, rice, etc.  and he has a serious LOVE of cheese.  So much so that we cant say the word cheese without him running to the fridge and him signing please over and over til he gets some cheese....so if you come over, don't say cheese unless you mean to share some with him.
BUT...VEGGIES.  They are a no go.
Not always though. There are some random days that he will chose to eat a green bean.... The only thing I have gotten him to consistently eat is beans.  Like black beans.... And he is will usually eat them better if I put them on a fork?? I have no idea why they apparently taste different on a fork.

BUT, as soon as I turn my back... this happens:
Corn and carrots EVERYWHERE!!!  He quickly goes to clear his tray of anything that looks slightly vegetable.  His poor helicopter, unsuspectingly bombed.... The pictures don't do justice of how much food and corn and carrots he had thrown on the floor.  It was everywhere, in, around, behind...EVERYWHERE on...
My. Newly. Vacuumed. And. Mopped. Clean. Floor.
This is almost a daily occurance now.  I have tried being stern and giving him a time out when he throws food on the floor, I have tried making him clean it up, I have tried a combination of things... I dont know if he thinks if they aren't on his tray he doesn't have to eat them...because today I caught him stuffing a bean into the catcher part of his bib...nice Hayd..nice...very sneaky.  Little do kids know that as soon as your a mom you have eyes everywhere!  And sometimes he just throws food or swings his arms super fast on his tray clearing the food to be funny... he screams and laughs hysterically.  And then I cant help but laugh at how much fun he is having...its a nasty cycle.

I have tried just giving veggies first and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.  I dont know what to do with him.  I am paranoid about what he eats.  I want him to get the things and nutrients he needs to grow and develop big and strong....but he won't eat his veggies.  He LOVED all the veggies pureed in baby food.  But not table food form.

He loves cheese so much Ive considered melting cheese over all his veggies.  Disgusting? Maybe...But what the heck do I do to get him to eat them?

HELP! Did anyone else's kids do this? My game plan for now is just to keep giving them to him.  Loading a fork with veggies one pea at a time if I have too....Any suggestions please?

How can I stay mad at this face though....
He was soooo handsome this Sunday.  He looked like such a little man.  He was not having the picture taking though.  Right after this picture he threw a total fit...weird he didn't want to sit still some more after having to be quiet through all of church. But I HAD to get some pictures.  So thats why these pictures look like they are all over the place, because Hayden was all over the place :)
I really love this picture. :) I love my two men...

wilD winter

This winter has been very busy and definitely a transition.  Here in Rexburg, Idaho it is FREEEZING cold.  I thought I knew what cold was but apparently I had no idea.  It is honestly, freeze your butt off cold here.  The first week we were here, I went grocery shopping and it was -9!!  ya, N.E.G.A.T.I.V.E.... and then another morning Cory went to work it was -13! and it was 9am!  Thankfully it has warmed up a bit and today we are a whopping 28 degrees, and its snowing.  It's always warmer when it snows.Rexburg doesn't really have a snow removal system(which just baffles me) so the roads are awful when its snowy and freezing...I have become a great snow driver :)

Winter also means, runny noses, sneezes, colds, coughs and at our house ear infections. lots and lots.  Poor Hayden has had 3 in two months.  About 6 doctors appointments later, one super crappy doctor, lots of antibiotics, one of which Hayden is allergic to(Penicillin), me stressing out about his hearing and having speech delays...we finally went to an ENT here in Rexburg. His ears looked good while we were there and there was no fluid on his ears while we were there and his hearing was great. Whew... BUT when kids have ear infections they have 30% hearing loss!  So Hayden could have been struggling to hear us, or we sounded like he was underwater while he had all the infections.  We then scheduled an appointment to have tubes put in his ears.  I had 2 sets of tubes as a kid, Ive obviously lived through the surgery.  I know lots and lots of kids that have tubes in their ears.  But the thought of Hayden "going under" and having surgery made me want to barf.

We woke up early that very snowy, cold morning...woke Hayden up and left for the hospital.  I had done all the pre-op the day before so I had signed all the dreaded "your child could....seize, die, etc." awful awful things to sign your name too.  They took us right back and got Hayden in a gown.  He was so happy and good considering he hadn't had breakfast yet(he had to fast for the surgery), and we pulled him out of bed and took him to this weird place he had never been.  We waited, then walked him back with the nurse to a certain point and then I gave him to the nurse to take back for the surgery.(WORSE FEELING EVER! just in case you were curious...)  The nurses later said he was happy and fine with them the whole time, until the mask over his face(uh ya...duh..of course he freaked out...)15-20 min later the Doctor came and told us the surgery went great, he was doing great, he had pus in his ears and was starting another infection so he would be more sore, gave us ear drops and went on his way.  I then heard my baby coming down the hallway SCREAMING crying!  He was so out of it.  He was slobbery and wouldn't open his eyes.  I couldn't get him to calm down.  We were in recovery for 45 min.  He cried the ENTIRE time.  Once he was more with us and out of the anesthetic he was more freaking ticked than anything.  He wanted nothing to do with any of the people there, he didn't want anyone but me and Cory to touch or look at him, he didn't want a drink or a snack... he just cried.  Until we left and got outside the hospital.  Then he stopped.  We got home, he ate and took a nap.  He was kinda more grouchy than usual and still kinda loopy sometimes, but was perfect the next day.  It's been a week later and its the last day of putting the ear drops in(which he HATES..LOATHES entirely really...)  But hopefully this means no more ear infections.

Waiting for the nurses to come take us back.  He looked really cute in the little hospital gown.

Loving on the cute bear the hospital gave him... and his Dog of course, which he got to take back into surgery with him

So we survived that fun adventure... Im ready for Spring.....

Here are some other pictures we have randomly taken this winter :)
(side note: Hayden is starting to kinda talk I think.  He will say the same sound over and over for certain words, like for hello and yes.  Im hoping now that he will for sure always have no fluid on his ears he will start talking more.  But he is signing really well.  He knows the signs for, "all done," "please," he signs please for everything...when he wants more, or when he wants up, when he wants out of his crib, when he wants anything really. And today he picked up "thank you," and "cheese."  He eats SOOO much cheese!  And Im glad he has manners already.  He knows where his tummy, nose, ears, head and "button" (belly button) is.  He follows directions, like "go get your ball/milk/juice/puppy etc." If I ask him if he needs to go nigh', night and he is tired he will walk to his crib and reach up for his blanket and dog.  He is so so smart.  He seriously amazes me daily with how much he knows)

"Taking at my new friends house. Rex :)  We are gonna be good buddies."
(Rex is our friend's brand new baby.  He is SOO cute and little.  It's so crazy to me that Hayden use to be that small)

mmmmm...these are yummy

How freaking sweet is this face?  I love watching him sleep...

This is the day of his birthday :)
He always surprises me the messes he makes and what I don't think he will be able to reach and then does... like goldish... or...

cereal...not sure how he got these... and then dumped them on the floor...

here he is enjoying his handy, and yummy work...

then fleeing the seen of the crime, haha :)

oh my heck he is the cutest
